MMT Objects

چکیده
Mmt is a mathematical knowledge representation language, whose object layer is strongly inspired by OpenMath. In fact, the first version of the Mmt system implemented exactly OpenMath objects. But over time Mmt has evolved and deviated from OpenMath in some respects. Some of these deviations are experimental or specific to Mmt applications, but others may be interesting for future versions of OpenMath. This papers presents Mmt objects and discusses the differences to OpenMath objects.

Design of the 6.5 m MMT adaptive optics system, and results from its prototype system FASTTRAC II
The first images of astronomical objects have been obtained with a telescope exploiting wavefront compensation with adaptive optics where the reference beacon was generated by laser excitation of mesospheric sodium. This was done using the FASTTRAC II low-order adaptive optics system at the Multiple Mirror Telescope (MMT). FASTTRAC II is a prototype for a full-scale adaptive optics system under...
متن کاملThe MMT API: A Generic MKM System
The Mmt language has been developed as a scalable representation and interchange language for formal mathematical knowledge. It permits natural representations of the syntax and semantics of virtually all declarative languages while making Mmt-based MKM services easy to implement. It is foundationally unconstrained and can be instantiated with specific formal languages. The Mmt API implements t...
متن کاملA Search for Occultations of Bright Stars by Small Kuiper Belt Objects Using Megacam on the Mmt
We conducted a search for occultations of bright stars by Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) to estimate the density of sub-km KBOs in the sky. We report here the first results of this occultation survey of the outer solar system conducted in June 2007 and June/July 2008 at the MMT Observatory using Megacam, the large MMT optical imager. We used Megacam in a novel shutterless continuous–readout mode to...
متن کاملObservations of Herbig Ae Disks with Nulling Interferometry
We present the results of 10 μm nulling interferometric observations of 13 Herbig Ae stars using the Magellan I (Baade) and the MMT 6.5 m telescopes. A portion of the observations was completed with the adaptive secondary at the MMT. We have conclusively spatially resolved 3 of the 13 stars, HD 100546, AB Aur, and HD 179218, the latter two recently resolved using adaptive optics in combination ...
متن کاملA Progress Report on the Carbon Dominated Atmosphere White Dwarfs
Recently, Dufour et al. (2007) reported the unexpected discovery that a few white dwarfs found in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey had an atmosphere dominated by carbon with little or no trace of hydrogen and helium. Here we present a progress report on these new objects based on new high signal-to-noise follow-up spectroscopic observations obtained at the 6.5m MMT telescope on Mount Hopkins, Arizona.
